About Our Alpacas in Michigan

Our alpacas in Michigan at Grand Alpaca Company Farm and Fiber Mill are all huacayas which originated from Chili and Peru. Huacaya Alpacas are bred to achieve excellence in conformation, disposition, color, and fiber quality. Through careful pedigree analysis and selection, our herd consists of over fifty alpacas. We have been able to grow our herd to be of the highest quality with proven lineage, and represents all sixteen lustrous shades of the alpaca color spectrum.
At the Grand Alpaca Company farm and fiber mill we currently (2023) have 52 alpacas that includes 4 crias (babies). We have more males currently on the farm than females, which is odd for most farms, but for us it is practical. Males fiber typically stays a better quality for a longer time than a female. Since we have Grand Alpaca Fiber Mill we are wanting to have longer lasting fiber animals. Females energy if they are being bred goes into growing the cria's verses their fiber. So all in all this works for our farm currently.
